Pengantar Redaksi
Namun, epigrafi Indonesia menghadapi sejumlah tantangan.

Editor's Introduction
Epigraphy, as a discipline that focuses on the study of inscriptions and ancient writings, plays a crucial role in reconstructing Indonesian history and culture. Modern epigraphic studies are required to be inclusive, integrating various perspectives from various scientific fields. The use of the latest technology, such as photogrammetry, allows for more in-depth visualization and analysis of epigraphic objects. In addition, the study of political and socio-cultural landscapes through the epigraphic approach provides a comprehensive understanding of the lives of past communities.
However, Indonesian epigraphy faces a number of challenges. The physical condition of inscriptions, which are often worn and damaged by natural and human factors, is a major obstacle in reading and interpreting texts. In addition, the complexity of ancient languages and scripts requires in-depth and sustained specialized expertise. The lack of competent human resources in the field of epigraphy, as well as limited access to data and scientific publications, also hampers the development of this study.
In this context, the periodical scientific publication “Sambhasana” is present as a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas between researchers, academics, and practitioners of epigraphy. The name “Sambhasana” which means 'discussion' reflects the spirit of collaboration and openness to various approaches in epigraphic studies. We hope that through this publication, significant fresh contributions can be made to the development of Indonesian epigraphy, as well as contributing to the scientific world in general.
